I was pinned my Specialist in the United States Army and it feels great. More is now expected of me, but that is what I want. I want to thank my wife for being my shoulder to lean on and always believing in me. This is just a small step in what I hope to accomplish in the Army, but it is a small step in the right direction. Thank you Kati! Thank you also to all of my family who have supported me from the beginning and have always been there for me and my family, especially through this deployment. Even if you haven't been asked of to help us, knowing everyone is there is what matters. Now the march to Sergeant Millett begins. I don't know why they chose this place but they did. The ac has been going out, power going out, uugghh. Other than that everything is OK. I have been working nights for the last month or so. Which is good except for times like this when you can't sleep during the day because it is 120 plus degrees outside. And with no ac you can imagine what it is like inside. Even WITH ac during the day, a tent is still a tent and attracts alot of heat. It is nice though to work at night while the sun is gone. I miss the family so much. It is hard being gone all the time, but Kati is a "supermom", especially with three kids to care for, one of them starting middle school in a couple of months, and no husband at home and still having to care for him halfway around the world. Thank you to all of my family for the love and support for Kati and the kids. It makes it so much easier to be gone when you know they will be taken care of and supported by so many people. I miss you all and God Bless.

My Dad went to Iraq and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.

Hello to everyone! From me! I once heard someone say, "If someone you hold in high regard begins to broach subject matter you consider worthy of your thoughts, consider taking in the opinion of your peer and retaining it for future reference. As we all have moments that need reversion to solve lifes' riddles". I think maybe I said that, just now, but then again, it could have happened at any time, couldn't it have? Probably. Some might like hard boiled eggs, and some might not. But I can tell you, I will not eat them in a can. I will not eat them, Sam I am.
How shall I compare thee to a summers day?
Well, how about this.

Ode to Iraq

Oh the skies, what a sight,

Cross the ocean took flight,

Iraq heat is humid,

92 still at night.

The afternoon breeze,

Of one hundred thirteen,

Brings the sharpened aroma

Of latrines left uncleaned.

No truck for the poop,

Troubled privates were dooped,

The reporter signs off,

Leaving them with the scoop.
